Music Courses – Grade 12

Grade 12 music provides opportunities to build on skills learned in Grade 11.  Students will continue to progress on their instrument or voice, and learn more about the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history.

Prerequisite for all Grade 12 Music courses: Grade 11 Music, Open

 

AMG4MI – GUITAR

Students will enhance their skills on the guitar. This course develops students` artistic knowledge and skills through the performance of music and the preparation of music productions. Students will perform appropriate works, particularly works in contemporary popular styles. Independently and in groups, they will also plan, market, and produce music productions, making use of appropriate technology, and will evaluate the results.

 

AMI4MI – INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Students will continue to enhance their skills on a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument started in Grade 9 (or earlier). Students will perform a wide selection of repertoire in large and small groups, and continue their exploration of music theory, history, listening and playing by ear.

 

AMV4MI – VOCAL MUSIC

Students will continue to enhance their vocal skills. Students will perform a wide selection of repertoire in large groups, small ensembles, and as a soloist.  They will continue their exploration of music theory, history, listening and singing by ear.
