Two players share one gameboard.<br \/>\n(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nctm.org\/Classroom-Resources\/Illuminations\/Interactives\/Product-Game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The online version can be played independently against a computer opponent<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>The first player selects the first digit across the bottom of the board to place a marker on.<\/p>\n<p>The second player selects a second number and multiplies those two numbers together.<br \/>\nThey then mark the resulting answer on the gameboard with an X.<\/p>\n<p>Now the first player takes their turn, moving one of the markers to make a new multiplication<br \/>\nequation, marking the answer on the gameboard with an O.<\/p>\n<p>Play continues until someone wins by connecting 4 of their X\u2019s or 4 of their O\u2019s in a row.<\/p>\n<p>The game can be replayed by erasing the X\u2019s and O\u2019s, or by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nctm.org\/Classroom-Resources\/Illuminations\/Interactives\/Product-Game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">playing this digital version<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Questions and Prompts to Support your Child:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Which numbers across the bottom (factors) do you need to get the answers you\u2019re<br \/>\naiming for on the gameboard?<\/li>\n<li>Which numbers across the bottom (factors) should you avoid so that I can\u2019t get the<br \/>\nanswers I\u2019m aiming for on the gameboard?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Extensions &amp; Adaptations:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If struggling with calculations, have a calculator handy!<\/li>\n<li>Add larger numbers (in the digital version) or by creating your own gameboard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a game played in partners.
