{"id":1279,"date":"2021-04-09T11:02:39","date_gmt":"2021-04-09T15:02:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/schools.wrdsb.ca\/continuing-education\/?page_id=1279"},"modified":"2026-06-07T23:11:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T03:11:35","slug":"english-language-learner-summer-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/schools.wrdsb.ca\/continuing-education\/summer-school\/english-language-learner-summer-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Multilingual Learner (MLL) Summer Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The MLL Summer Program will assist students entering into Grades 7, 8 or 9 in September 2026 with further development of their English communication skills.\u00a0 The program will focus on all three communication areas: oral, reading and writing.\u00a0 For newcomer youth, there will be an introduction to a variety of programs and supports available in the community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/h2>\n<table style=\"width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: solid; border-color: #000000; background-color: #5ef283;\" border=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1cl1T7XQCkFeU-sSPAbM8xwXtUy592pc6\/view?usp=drive_link\">SUMMER ELEMENTARY PROGRAM (gr. 6-8) FLYER<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Students will be expected to participate in learning activities \/ lessons for the entirety of the program.\u00a0<\/span> \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Elementary MLL program begins Monday, July 6, 2026 to Friday, July 24, 2026<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All programs will be\u00a0 in-person from 9:15am to 2:15pm <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Classes will be held at several WRDSB sites (sites: Westmount PS, Laurelwood PS, Janet Metcalfe PS, Silverheights PS)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Only WRDSB students currently registered in a WRDSB school in 2025\/2026 are eligible<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Registration begins March 9th, 2026 and will close May 22nd, 2026 &#8211; contact your students\u2019 homeschool Elementary School Guidance Contact, Special Education Resource Teacher or the Administrator (Principal \/ Vice-Principal).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Elementary Summer School Routes will be available in June on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stswr.ca\/2026\/06\/08\/wrdsb-summer-school\">STSWR\u00a0<\/a>website.<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"gmail_default\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Which Students would be appropriate for the MLL program?<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students who are looking to improve their skills in\u00a0<b>Reading\u00a0<\/b>in English:<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students who are looking to improve their skills in\u00a0<b>Writing\u00a0<\/b>in English:<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">Students who are looking to improve their<b>\u00a0Listening<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>Speaking<\/b> skills in English:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>Registration Information:<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Parents\/Guardians that are interested in this summer school opportunity for their student should contact their students\u2019 homeschool Elementary School Guidance Contact, Special Education Resource Teacher or the Administrator (Principal \/ Vice-Principal).<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Transportation Information:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<div class=\"gmail_default\">\n<p>Bussing will be provided for all of our Elementary and Secondary students.\u00a0 However, please note that Summer School buses cover a large geographic area and parents\/guardians will need to make arrangements to get their children to and from centralized bus stops.
