{"id":238,"date":"2016-10-25T15:25:50","date_gmt":"2016-10-25T19:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wrdsb.ca\/continuing-education\/?page_id=238"},"modified":"2026-02-24T10:17:56","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T15:17:56","slug":"summer-school-co-operative-education","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/schools.wrdsb.ca\/continuing-education\/summer-school\/summer-school-co-operative-education\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer School Co-operative Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><b>Secondary Co-Operative Education: Summer School Program<\/b><\/span><\/h1>\n<table style=\"width: 58.4741%; border-collapse: collapse; background-color: #5ddeb5; border-color: #000000;\" border=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/schools.wrdsb.ca\/continuing-education\/files\/2026\/02\/WRDSB-Summer-Scool-Coop-2026.pdf\">Summer School Coop &#8211; Information Flyer<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">placements will run from Monday, June 29th, 2026 &#8211; July 31, 2026 (note that Wednesday, July 1st is a holiday)<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">5 <u>MANDATORY <\/u>orientation \/ pre-placement meetings will occur prior to start of placements in July\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">April 18th (virtual) from 8:30 &#8211; 4:30<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">April 25th (in-person &#8211; Cameron Heights CI) from 8:30 &#8211; 2:30 (+ 2 hrs virtual)<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">May 2nd (in-person &#8211; Cameron Heights CI) from 8:30 &#8211; 2:30 (+ 2 hrs virtual)<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">May 23rd (virtual) from 8:30 &#8211; 4:30<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">June 6th (virtual) from 8:30 &#8211; 4:30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">registration will open Wednesday, February 18th and close Wednesday, March 25th<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">registration is completed through your student&#8217;s home school Guidance department<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">please begin these conversations with your Guidance Counsellor in advance of registration opening<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\">questions? reach out via email:\u00a0 <a href=\"mailto:summer-co-op@wrdsb.ca\">summer-co-op@wrdsb.ca<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>All summer school courses, including co-op, will be offered to WRDSB students <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">only<\/span> who have attended a WRDSB school in the 2025-2026 school year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><b>General Information and Student Expectations:<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students may only take co-op OR a summer school credit course &#8211; not both.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students who have a high degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently are best suited for the co-op program.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regular attendance is critical for success at summer school.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Vacation or work should be scheduled outside of summer school hours<\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 This includes the 5 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">mandatory<\/span> orientation \/ pre-placement dates listed above.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WRDSB reserves the right to cancel courses if there is insufficient enrolment or staff available.
