{"id":9366,"date":"2026-06-01T09:28:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T13:28:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/schools.wrdsb.ca\/continuing-education\/2026\/06\/01\/june-1-is-ontario-day\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T09:28:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T13:28:59","slug":"june-1-is-ontario-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/schools.wrdsb.ca\/continuing-education\/2026\/06\/01\/june-1-is-ontario-day\/","title":{"rendered":"June 1 is Ontario Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On Monday, June 1, the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) will recognize Ontario Day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Introduced in 2021 through Bill 173, Ontario Day recognizes the contributions Ontarians have made to the province&#8217;s social, economic, political and cultural fabric.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, the Ministry of Education is asking students, staff, and school communities to come together to learn about and reflect on the remarkable contributions of the people of Ontario. Ontario\u2019s people, resources, and achievements have played a vital role in driving progress across Canada and beyond. By exploring Ontario\u2019s history, students gain a deeper appreciation of the shared experiences, key milestones, and lasting contributions that continue to shape the province we call home.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Recognizing Ontario Day<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To celebrate Ontario Day, schools across the WRDSB will engage in activities that highlight milestones from Ontario&#8217;s past and present, including recent or emerging developments.
