Students participate in a simulation that highlights the competition between the British Hudson Bay Company and the predominantly French Northwest Trading Company. The relationship between European settlers and First Nation peoples is also explored.In the morning we will play out a fur trading simulation activity in the forest. In the afternoon we will put on snowshoes and visit the homes of fur-bearing animals that live at Laurel Creek. As we explore the property, we will trade items with each other that were part of the fur trading economy of 1780.<\/p>\n<p>Notes for teachers:<\/p>\n<p>This is a very\u00a0active winter program.
