Board runs five day-use Outdoor and Environmental Education (OEE) Centres.\u00a0 Each year we provide immersive, contextual and authentic opportunities to learn about nature and the environment to over 1,000 classes from Grades 1-12.\u00a0 For over fifty years OEE has been at the forefront of environmental education in Waterloo Region.<\/p>\n<p>The Blair and Wrigley Corners Centres are located in Cambridge, Laurel Creek and Camp Heidelberg are in Waterloo.\u00a0 In addition, we have a portable classroom at the Huron Natural Area in Kitchener which we use for events, specialized programs and year connected to environmental sustainability, offer educational community science opportunities, support schools with their EcoSchools applications and run our Monarch Waystation initiative.\u00a0 Education Objectives:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>1) Deliver high quality programs and services for students, teachers and the greater community of the Waterloo Region District School Board<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Offer training, resources and other services to educators in support of environmental education<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide support and resources for schools developing and sustaining schoolyard naturalization<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop innovative ways of delivering services and programs<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>2) Use the natural environment as a context to support the Ontario curriculum<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Promote the use of environmental themes within classroom units<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encourage teachers to conduct lessons using schoolyard naturalization areas and local natural sites<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>3) Promote knowledge, skills and attitudes which foster an environmentally responsible citizenry<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop attitudes founded on respect for life, which contribute to positive environmental decisions and actions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop knowledge of natural history, ecology and our place in nature<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Help students recognize the impact of human actions on the environment<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encourage students to think critically, solve problems, and make decisions<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use teaching strategies which address a range of learning styles<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encourage students to form and express opinions on environmental issues<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide opportunities for students to develop knowledge and skills to engage in outdoor the policy of the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) to promote the development of environmentally sound values by modeling appropriate practice, by supporting environmentally sound
