{"id":3016,"date":"2015-02-13T13:05:32","date_gmt":"2015-02-13T18:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/outdooredguys.wordpress.com\/?p=3016"},"modified":"2015-02-13T13:05:32","modified_gmt":"2015-02-13T18:05:32","slug":"wrigley-coyote-returns-and-he-brought-a-friend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/schools.wrdsb.ca\/environmental-education\/2015\/02\/13\/wrigley-coyote-returns-and-he-brought-a-friend\/","title":{"rendered":"Wrigley Coyote Returns&#8230; and he brought a friend."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The video Sean has been getting with his trail camera is fantastic. \u00a0He has inspired me to put mine out too. \u00a0I don&#8217;t want this to be a competition&#8230; I just think it will be fun to see what we can get on camera with a couple more of these things in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Last year I saw Coyote tracks on the Trail behind Wrigley Corners almost every day. \u00a0However, in November the local Coyote was hit by a car and there have been no tracks for several months. \u00a0About a week ago I started seeing urine in spots along the trail and fresh Coyote tracks. \u00a0I assumed it was a young male claiming a vacant territory. \u00a0Coyote are pretty active this time of year because in Southern Ontario they breed in February. \u00a0There have been a bunch of Coyote sightings in Waterloo Region lately largely for this reason.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3018\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/outdooredguys.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/02\/img_1639.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3018\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3018\" src=\"https:\/\/outdooredguys.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/02\/img_1639.jpg?w=225\" alt=\"Coyote Urine\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3018\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Coyote Urine<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been reluctant to put up my camera on the trial as it is a public place (lots of people walk their dogs here) and I didn&#8217;t want my camera to walk away. \u00a0However, I&#8217;ve wanted pictures of the Wrigley Coyote for a long time so&#8230;\u00a0I found a way to add some chains and deployed the camera for a few days.<\/p>\n<p>[wpvideo sRDCi9FD]<\/p>\n<p>What surprised me was how aware the Coyotes were of the trail camera. \u00a0It is a tiny box strapped to a tree, yet these animals were very cautious.<\/p>\n<p>I hope that this is a breeding pair of Coyote. \u00a0I will follow the tracks sometime soon and get a better sense for their territory and try to find another spot where I can get more video of these beautiful wild creatures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The video Sean has been getting with his trail camera is fantastic. \u00a0He has inspired me to put mine out too. \u00a0I don&#8217;t want this to be a competition&#8230; I just think it will be fun to see what we can get on camera with a couple more of these things in the field.
