Class Description

Agricultural Techniques: This course provides students with basic skills and knowledge of typical agricultural principles such as soils composition, compaction, and management. Seasonal operations such as seeding, spraying, weed control, and harvesting are also covered. Students will complete the Grower Pesticide Safety training during this course. Students will also be introduced to livestock themes such as manure management, nutrient management, and bio-security. There will be an emphasis on students working in teams to contribute to an effective and safe workplace.

Food Processing: This course will give students an introduction to the Food Industry, and also cover principles of food science and food composition, basic processing methods, and food regulations. Students will be introduced to food processing equipment in the pilot plant as well as to food testing in the laboratory. (Description to be confirmed)
