Career discovery expos spotlight these careers and equip young women with the power of choice by providing information, resources, networks, and role models.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Each expo includes key information on careers with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Dream Maker panel of professional women sharing their career experience and advice<\/li>\n<li>A networking expo for speaking directly with employers (and female employees) to gain insight into each business or industry<\/li>\n<li>Visit each booth to ask questions about schooling, available positions, and more!<\/li>\n<li>Hands-on activities, merchandise, career photo booth, and more!<\/li>\n<li>WRDSB Article &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wrdsb.ca\/blog\/2019\/04\/15\/build-a-dream-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Young Women Building Their Future in the Trades<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Conestoga College &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conestogac.on.ca\/trades\/women\/events\/index\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Women in Skilled Trades Events<\/a><\/h4>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Jill of All Trades Event:<\/strong> In conjunction with the School College Work Initiative \u2013 Grand Connection Regional Planning Team, Conestoga hosts a day-long event to inspire young women in grades 9 to 12 regarding the many opportunities that careers in trades and technology provide. Approximately 200 female students from eight local school boards attend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>TNT Days:<\/strong> Trades and Technology \u201cTNT&#8221; Day activities provide various hands-on activities related to different careers in the construction, industrial and motive power sectors as well as engineering and architecture. Female students in grades 7 to 10 have the opportunity to learn and work in a college shop setting. Young women will be introduced to pathways that transition students from secondary to apprenticeship and related college programs.<\/p>\n<h2>Community Outreach<\/h2>\n<p>Activities or events to promote OYAP participation and apprenticeship trades to students, parents, educators, or employers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indigenous Youth Promote apprenticeship trades to self-identified Indigenous students through activities\/events.
