This is what learning at home, or remote learning, will look like for the 2021/22 school year. Students learning at home, from Kindergarten to Grade 12, will learn online full time with distance support from their teachers and support staff. Students will have the opportunity to connect and build community in their virtual classes. They will have 180-225 minutes of live, synchronous instruction each day.
Elementary students in Kindergarten to Grade 8, will have 80 minutes planned each day for nutrition breaks and recesses supervised at home by their parents/caregivers. There will be combined classes of students from more than one grade. The French Immersion program may not be available in Remote Learning.
High school students will have limited course choices and will have some classes that are combined with other grade levels or courses. Specialized high school programs will not be available in Remote Learning, including Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), French Immersion, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Integrated Arts Program (IAP).
If you choose learning at home, remote learning, for your child or children, you must call or email their school(s) before Wednesday, June 2, 2021 to tell them your choice of remote learning at home for September 2021 – June 2022.
