All WRDSB students and families have the choice between learning at school, in-person, or learning at home in remote learning, for the entire 2021/22 school year. Here is information to help you make the best decision for each of your children from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Parents/Caregivers/Students must please make a decision by June 2, 2021. You may also change the request that you made for Remote Learning previously.

Learning At School (In-Person) for the Full Year

Learning at School (In-Person) in Kindergarten to Grade 12 looks like:

  • In-person support
  • In-person connection, and supportive learning community
  • Continued health and safety measures

This is what learning at school, in-person, will look like for the 2021/22 school year. Students learning at school, from Kindergarten to Grade 12, will have in-person support from their teachers and school staff. Students will have the opportunity to connect and build community in their classrooms and in their school building. All health and safety practices will be continued to be sure that all students and staff are safe at school. Students learning at school will have access to an online classroom in case they need to learn from home.If you choose learning at school, in-person, for your child or children, you do not have to do anything else. Your child or children will be registered for in-person learning at school for September 2021 – June 2022.

Learning At Home (Remote) for the Full Year

Learning At Home (Remote)

Learning At Home (Remote) in Kindergarten to Grade 12 looks like:

  • Online learning full time
  • Online connection, and supportive learning community
  • 180 to 225 minutes of online (synchronous) instruction per day

Learning At Home (Remote) in Kindergarten to Grade 8 also looks like:

  • 80 minutes of scheduled nutrition breaks and recesses supervised by parents/caregivers
  • Multi-grade combined classes
  • May NOT include French Immersion Program

Learning At Home (Remote) in Grades 9 to 12 also looks like:

  • Limited course options at each grade level for each pathway
  • Secondary ESL/ELD program with fewer course options
  • Programs NOT available: Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), French Immersion, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Integrated Arts Program (IAP)

This is what learning at home, or remote learning, will look like for the 2021/22 school year. Students learning at home, from Kindergarten to Grade 12, will learn online full time with distance support from their teachers and support staff. Students will have the opportunity to connect and build community in their virtual classes. They will have 180-225 minutes of live, synchronous instruction each day.

Elementary students in Kindergarten to Grade 8, will have 80 minutes planned each day for nutrition breaks and recesses supervised at home by their parents/caregivers. There will be combined classes of students from more than one grade. The French Immersion program may not be available in Remote Learning.

High school students will have limited course choices and will have some classes that are combined with other grade levels or courses. Specialized high school programs will not be available in Remote Learning, including Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), French Immersion, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Integrated Arts Program (IAP).

If you choose learning at home, remote learning, for your child or children, you must call or email their school(s) before Wednesday, June 2, 2021 to tell them your choice of remote learning at home for September 2021 – June 2022.
