Yesterday I got another video of the mink at Laurel Creek. It doesn’t seem to have any use of its front left paw. I hope this injury doesn’t affect the potential for young mink at this site. I suspect our resident is a female. It has been at this den all winter, and I read that male mink disappear for weeks at a time in search of mates in February. Though… I also read that male mink are often injured in February fighting other males for the right to mate. It’s hard to tell from the video, but male mink weigh around 2 pounds, and females weigh 1-1.5 pounds. Whatever the sex, I hope it can find enough food with the injury.
