The Easter weekend begins tomorrow, and it looks to be a busy one in the sugar bush.  We’ve had a cold spring and hadn’t had a run of sap since March 13.  Things have warmed up marginally  this week – still in the low single digits – but enough to get some sap moving up through the tree trunks.  We’ve made just shy of 30 liters of syrup the last two days and have about 1300 litres of sap in storage to begin the day tomorrow.  There may be another 800-1000 liters in the buckets waiting to be collected by morning.

I wrote last week about the installation of the new storage tank.  Here’s a short video of us getting in to the sugar shack, it’s first fill, and another of a very pretty little snow flurry that blew through the bush yesterday.
