Like all gardens, Monarch Waystations need periodic maintenance.  To help determine which Waystations are in need of care we ask schools to regularly inspect them.  Students are excellent at conducting these inspections.

One of the things we like to know is soil type.  Some soils are better at holding onto water, others have more nutrients that help plant growth.  There are chemical and physical ways of inspecting soil.  We ask that you examine the physical structure of the soil, to do so use the method described below.  You can send your results to the Outdoor Education Department at any time.
