Creative Movement and Dance Activities
Dancing is a great way to get our bodies moving, our hearts pumping and ourselves off the couch! All you need to do is turn up your favourite music and move to the rhythm. You don’t need to know any special dance moves to benefit physically, mentally and emotionally from dancing.
However, if you feel like you want the challenge of learning a choreographed dance, or a few new dance moves, John Jacobson from Music Express Magazine has some fun dances for you to follow along with and have fun.
Here are a couple of entertaining songs and dances using Disney music for you to try:
- Under the Sea (from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”)
- Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious (from Walt Disney’s “Mary Poppins”)
Not feeling like Disney? Try following some dances from these more modern songs:
- “Can’t Stop That Feeling” (Justin Timberlake)
- “Brave” (Sara Bareilles)
Whether you are making up your own dance, or following the moves in a choreographed dance, just get moving and have fun!
