Goals:

  • Write a pourquoi story

Yesterday, you created an outline for your pourquoi story.

Today, expand your ideas to write the full story.

To make your story interesting to read, give the animals characters in your story human characteristics. (In pourquoi tales animals usually talk and act like humans.)

As you write, think of the three parts of the story:

  • A special beginning: describe what your animal was like before the change you want to explain.
  • A problem and solution: take your time explaining the problem that will lead to the change in your animal.
  • An ending that is fair: explain the change that happens to your animal. Sometimes there is also a lesson learned along the way!
  • Usually the last sentence of a pourquoi tale begins with “And that is why, to this day, … “

When you are happy with your story, share it with a family member.
