Goals:

  • Retell a trickster story
  • Represent a trickster story in comic book form

A trickster is a common character in traditional folklore. Yesterday we learned that tricksters:

  • Are often animals that act and speak like humans
  • Might have magical abilities (e.g. can change their shape)
  • Are clever and like to play tricks on people to teach important lessons

Today, choose one of the trickster stories listed below to read and respond to:

Read the story you choose paying careful attention to the actions of the trickster. Think about what the story is trying to teach the reader. (e.g., how to behave or why the world is the way it is)

Create a comic strip of your story that shows the main events of the story. Make sure you clearly show the lesson at the end. You can see an example of a comic strip here.
