Getting Started
Day One
Goals
- Build a personal reading list
- Make a plan for when and where you will read every day
Make a list of books and other texts that you would like to read at home.
(See the ideas below to help you make your list.)
Questions to think about:
- What are some of your favourite books or authors?
- Is there a book that you enjoyed that you would like to re-read?
- What are some topics that you would like to learn more about?
- What is at the top of your reading list? Why? Do you think you could find other texts like this?
Find a comfy place for reading.
Set a goal for how long, or how much, you will read every day. Share this goal with your family.

- “Read Your Home” – look around the house for text in different places (kitchen items, cleaning products, flyers…etc.) How many different places can you find text to read?
- Read books in your first language (see “International Children’s Digital Library” for online books in different languages)
