The Learning Task

The Crayola Crayon Company has issued a media release to announce it’s new ‘Colors of the World’ crayons that attempt to represent 32 different skin tones.

  • Are these skin tones the colours of the world, or are they the colours of your home and neighbourhood?
  • Is the world more diverse that we now need this product? Or, are some more aware of the diversity among us?
  • Have you felt represented in your school experience? Why or why not? Would this crayon set have helped you in your school experience?
  • What other common classroom items require increased representation?
