Materials:

  • paper
  • pencil
  • coins (nickel, dime, quarter)

Find three or more amounts of money that you can represent using six coins:

  • The total of each amount needs to be 50¢ or less.
  • The coins you can use are nickels, dimes and quarters.

Helpful Hints:

  • You may want to review the amount each coin (nickel, dime, quarter) is worth with your child.
  • Students may want to keep track of their answers by drawing circles to represent the coins with the number of cents inside the circle.
