Yesterday you played a game, creating specific vocabulary word collections about different topics.

Writers, like the author Kate Messner, use specific vocabulary words all about gardens and dirt. As you listen to Kate Messner read you her book Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt, listen for all of the garden and dirt words you hear!

Families:

Encourage your child to make a list of the garden and dirt words they hear, and to add any other words they can think of that are about gardens and dirt. They might use this list another time in their own writing.
