Word Choice

The specific verbs or action words that writers choose can change the way a reader is able to “see” the story.

Read the following sentences together with your child. Talk together about what the reader might think about how the girl feels, based on the verb that the author chose.

She walked into her room.
She skipped into her room.
She trudged into her room.
She snuck into her room.
She slipped into her room.
