Wassily Kandinsky was an artist who compared painting to making music.

Today we are going to the Chrome Music Lab to experiment with Shapes, Patterns and Sounds. In the Chrome Music Lab, begin by going to the Kandinsky section.

Give your child some time to experiment and try drawing different lines and shapes to determine how the site works.

Things to Try:

  1. Draw a line, circle and triangle. What are the different sounds they make?
  2. Draw 3 triangles. 1 at the top, 1 middle and 1 bottom. What are the different sounds they make?
  3. What do you predict will happen to the sounds if you draw lines at the top, middle and bottom? Try it.
  4. Try making a pattern like triangle, triangle, circle or bottom triangle, bottom triangle, middle triangle.
  5. Experiment and have fun.
  6. Your child may want to sketch their favourite “song” on paper to remember how they made it.
