Dear Families,

These are challenging times. We want you to know that your WRDSB family is here for you, working to reconnect classroom communities in support of your children.

Over the next week, things will look different from what we are used to. Educators are working on finding different ways to connect with students.

As teachers work to establish new learning opportunities, we encourage you to work together as a family to think about when are the best times to engage in at-home learning. We are aware that families will commit to different amounts of time and support for learning at home.

Parents and caregivers are key partners in their child’s learning. Including your child in family activities like cooking, cleaning, game nights – even watching TV together – create opportunities to talk and learn together. We encourage you to continue to participate in these opportunities.

Our focus is to create rich learning experiences that families can engage in, as they are able. Our situation is changing daily but we are all committed to student well-being. We are working together to support students, families and each other during this time.

Resources to consider:

The WRDSB has provided some online learning activities at WRDSB@Home for families with students in elementary school. The Ontario government also has learning activities at their Learn At Home site. We are working hard to provide personalized and equitable learning experiences for all of our students during this time.
