Junior blogger Kyle, an-ex co-op student at Laurel Creek, sends this post from Northern Ontario, about an hour east of Parry Sound.  He is currently working a trapline with his uncle.

“Hey Sean, I saw your post about the owls, not gonna lie I’m kinda jealous. But I saw a bunch of birds of my own this week. When I first got here I saw a Bald Eagle eating at a deer the wolves had killed earlier. I saw a bunch of Ravens too.  There have been tons of Blue Jays flying around and I got to see a Gray Jay today too. The most interesting though was the black-backed woodpecker I saw today while I was waxing traps.

I also got to listen to the wolves howling over a kill, and yesterday driving home from North Bay we passed a hundred deer.

I almost hit two does on the lake today while I was driving my snowmobile. They were flying!

Oh, and I also caught my first fisher today, I couldn’t believe how big they actually are! This whole trapping thing is great I have so much more to tell you about later.”
