I am sitting in the sugar shack right now, after just getting the fire going to full-tilt. I brought my wireless router out to the shack and thought it might be neat to be the first to send a ‘sweet’ blog from the shack : ) To date, there has been 52L, but with the weather the way it is, it is not going to get cold enough to get the pressure differential needed to get the sap rushing – it just is not cold enough. Outside the shack there are American Robins singing, woodpeckers drumming, and the tiny bit of frost is melting. If it wasn’t for the +14C for the afternoon, I would have said it felt like the perfect syrup day : )  Although according to the UofW weather webpage it reached a low of -2.2C last night, so I guess I will see what happens…

I hope everyone is enjoying the weather. I am enjoying the warmer days, but it has ended the syrup season early, so it is (pardon the expression) ‘bitter-sweet’.
