Connecting Reading and Writing: Days of Significance

Goals:

  • Create a poster for Earth Day
  • Share important messages and call people to action

Yesterday, you researched an important issue related to Earth Day.

Today, you will have an opportunity to create your own Earth Day Poster.

Each year NASA creates an Earth Day poster.

You can learn more about how Jenny Mottar, a NASA artist, created this year’s poster in this video.

As you plan and create your poster, think about how you can:

  • share information about your research topic from yesterday
  • convince people who see your poster to take action and help save the Earth!

You can use paper and pencil crayons to make your poster, or you could use an online drawing tool like Google Draw to make your poster.

When your poster is complete – share it with family members.

Think about how you might share your poster with your community (e.g. post it in a window, email a picture to a family member, or get a parent to Tweet a picture of it out to friends and family).
