2) a person who shows great courage
What does it mean to be a hero?
What words, ideas, or images come to mind when you hear the word ‘hero’?
On a piece of paper, or on your computer, record your ideas. You might make a mindmap for the word ‘hero’, or you could make a list of your ideas.
Today, we will explore some outstanding citizens from Canada’s past.
Your Task:
First, view three or four videos from the Historical Heroes website.
Next, choose one of the videos to write about:
- Do you think the person (or people) from the video is a hero? Explain your thinking using ideas from your mind map or list.
Share your thinking with a family member.
Other Opportunities:
- Write about a person (or people) you think is truly heroic. What makes them heroic?
- Draw a picture of someone you think is a hero. Add words that describe this person to the picture.
