Reading: Prompts
Goals:
- Read and respond to a newspaper article
Across Canada and the United States, Indigenous girls and women are jingle dress dancing to promote healing in the world.
Read the news article: Indigenous jingle dress dancing goes ‘viral’ on social media to help heal the world. After reading, watch some of the videos of jingle dress dances in the article.
Create a “3-2-1 list” and share with someone in your family:
- 3 things that you learned from your reading
- 2 things that you found interesting from your reading and would like to learn more about
- 1 question that came up while you were reading
Finally, add new ideas and questions to the mind map you created for National Indigenous History Month.
Other Opportunities:
- Learn how jingle dress dancers honoured George Floyd in this article.
- Keep on reading books you choose every day!
Note to families: Online articles can be challenging to read. If your child is logged into their WRDSB Google Account, they can use the Read and Write for Google Chrome plugin to have online text read to them.
