Playing the Game:

This is a game played in partners. Two players share one gameboard.
(The online version can be played independently against a computer opponent)

The first player selects the first digit across the bottom of the board to place a marker on.

The second player selects a second number and multiplies those two numbers together.
They then mark the resulting answer on the gameboard with an X.

Now the first player takes their turn, moving one of the markers to make a new multiplication
equation, marking the answer on the gameboard with an O.

Play continues until someone wins by connecting 4 of their X’s or 4 of their O’s in a row.

The game can be replayed by erasing the X’s and O’s, or by playing this digital version.

Questions and Prompts to Support your Child:

  • Which numbers across the bottom (factors) do you need to get the answers you’re
    aiming for on the gameboard?
  • Which numbers across the bottom (factors) should you avoid so that I can’t get the
answers I’m aiming for on the gameboard?

Extensions & Adaptations:

  • If struggling with calculations, have a calculator handy!
  • Add larger numbers (in the digital version) or by creating your own gameboard
