WRDSB SUMMER SCHOOL – JULY 2026

The Waterloo Region District School Board is planning once again to offer current Grade 6, 7 & 8 Elementary students and current Grade 9-12 Secondary students an opportunity to enroll in summer school programs.

  • Grade 6 & 7 students may register in the Literacy / Numeracy Program;  special Literacy / Numeracy programming provided for our MLL students.  
  • Grade 8 students may register for the Literacy / Numeracy Program OR the Reach Ahead program – based on their learning needs.
  • Grade 9-12 students may register for secondary credit courses, which will be delivered either in-person or via the e-Learning option
  • Only WRDSB students currently registered in the 2025/2026 school year, and who are active students in June 2026, are eligible to take summer school
  • Transportation details will be available in June on the STSWR website

Important Note: Students are only able to access their WRDSB Google accounts from within Canada. Students traveling internationally will not be able to access their WRDSB Google accounts while they are outside of  Canada. Summer School is NOT recommended if you will be travelling internationally between June 29 – July 24, 2026.

  • Grade 8 Reach Ahead Program
    • runs from Monday, June 29th, 2026 to Friday, July 24th, 2026  (Wed., July 1st is a holiday – Canada Day)
    • runs from 8:30 – 3:00 every day
    • will be offered in-person (Huron Heights SS) or in eLearning format
    • registration begins March 9th and closes May 22nd – registration is completed through a student’s home school Special Education Resource Teacher and/or Guidance teacher

  • Grade 9 – 12 Secondary Credit programs
    • runs from Monday, June 29th, 2026 to Friday, July 24th, 2026  (Wed., July 1st is a holiday – Canada Day)
    • runs from 8:30 – 3:00 every day
    • credits will be offered in-person (Huron Heights SS) or in eLearning format
      (note: not all credits will be offered in both formats)
    • registration begins March 9th and closes May 22nd – registration is completed through a student’s home school Guidance department – please begin these conversations with your home school Guidance counsellor in advance of registration opening

  • Secondary Summer School Co-op program
    • placements run from Monday, June 29th, 2026 to Friday, July 31st, 2026  (Wed., July 1st is a holiday – Canada Day)
    • 5 mandatory orientation / pre-placement meetings will occur prior to start of placements, on Saturdays in April / May / June
    • registration will open mid-February and close shortly after March Break – registration is completed through your student’s home school Guidance department – please begin these conversations with your Guidance Counsellor in advance of registration opening

Please Note:

  • Only WRDSB students currently registered in the 2025/2026 school year are eligible
  • Students are only able to access their Google accounts from within Canada. Students traveling internationally will not be able to access their Google accounts until their return to Canada.
  • Bussing will be provided for all of our Elementary and Secondary students.  However, please note that Summer School buses cover a large geographic area and parents/guardians will need to make arrangements to get their children to and from centralized bus stops. This is applicable in rural settings as well.
  • Summer School routes will be posted on the STSWR website in early June
