The MLL Summer Program will assist students entering into Grades 7, 8 or 9 in September 2024 with further development of their English communication skills.  The program will focus on all three communication areas: oral, reading and writing.  For newcomer youth, there will be an introduction to a variety of programs and supports available in the community. 

Students will be expected to participate in learning activities / lessons for the duration of the program.   

  • Elementary MLL program begins Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024 to Friday, July 19, 2024
  • All programs will be either in-person OR remote-synchronous from 9:30am to 2:00pm
  • In-person classes will be held at Janet Metcalfe PS
  • Only WRDSB students currently registered in 2023/2024 are eligible
  • Registration opens March 18th, 2024 @ noon and will close May 17th, 2024 @ noon

Transportation Information:

Bussing will be provided for all of our Elementary and Secondary students.  However, please note that Summer School buses cover a large geographic area and parents/guardians will need to make arrangements to get their children to and from centralized bus stops. This is applicable in rural settings as well.

  • All transportation pickup locations are at the local 7/8 or K-8 school for the Elementary (gr. 6, 7, 8) MLL program.
  • ** UPDATE ** Summer School routes have been posted on the STSWR website.


Registration Information:

Parents/Guardians that are interested in this online summer school opportunity for their student should contact their students’ homeschool Elementary School Guidance Contact or the Administrator (Principal / Vice-Principal).

  • Any student completing Grade 6 in June 2024 – 6MLLNN (course to register)
  • Any student completing Grade 7 in June 2024 – 7MLLNN (course to register)
  • Any student finishing Grade 8 in June 2024 – 8MLLNN (course to register)


Important Note: for those considering the remote-synchronous option – students are only able to access their Google accounts from within Canada. Students traveling internationally will not be able to access their Google accounts until their return to Canada.
