Overview of Program:
Re-Engagement is a Continuing Education program for individuals ages 18+ who are seeking an individualized pathway towards earning their OSSD.
Re-Engagement students can choose from a number of different independent self-study courses at the open and college level. Credit Recovery, eLearning, PLAR, Experiential Learning and Dual Credit are some of the other ways students can earn the credits they need to graduate.
Re-Engagement teachers support students in their learning through virtual meetings, email, text messaging, and face-to-face meetings at the Alternative and Continuing Education Schools in Cambridge and Waterloo. Additionally, meetings at libraries, coffee shops, home schools etc. are also possible.
Students in Re-Engagement are independent learners. There is no requirement for students to attend a physical classroom.
Expectations:
Responsibilities of a Re-Engagement student include the following:
- Completing self-study work in a reasonable amount of time.
- Communicating with teachers on a weekly basis through text messages, emails, and/or face to face meetings.
- Asking for help when required.
Timelines:
To be an effective program for students, it is reasonable that students complete a single course every 5 weeks. Most courses are 4 modules in length. Timelines are flexible but this program is in high demand and space is limited, so regular participation is required.
