i know the title is cheesey but i really have had about 2009562481 good days. and the one at the end is today! we did a lot of my favourite things. we hiked, geocache’d, and a mew favourite, we bloged! well until the next time! -laurelwood p.s

The Fungus in the Forest

On April 21st we had an awesome and interesting day. We found all different kinds of fungus. In the picture you can see an orange and yellow fungus that is called Witch’s Butter. We also found “Turkey Tail.” – from the Wilson Wildcats.

We just saw a beaver’s dam and lodge on our hike. We didn’t see them because they were inside their lodge. We also saw some Yellow Birch trees that had been chewed on, it was dripping with sap and some people tasted it. It tasted like water with a little bit of sugar in it. […]

On the side of the shore was a tree that beavers had eaten and sap was just dripping out of it. Lots of kids tried the sap and said it was great but some said it tasted like water. Sheppard loved it but others for some reason hated it if I lived in the forest […]

Today we saw an amazing beaver dam. They built the dam really well but there was a little hole in the left side. its amazing what 2 little beavers can do. (by: Staebler Storm writers)

These were holes the Piliated Woodpecker made. This Wood pecker made these holes to find food. We know it is a Piliated WoodPecker because it made a more rectangular hole, so if you ever see a rectangular hole you know what made it and why. ( ; From the Doon People!
