The Learning Task
Rites of passage are ceremonies that mark important transitions in our life, like a birth or marriage, that recognize and honour significant change. The Ontario Ministry of Education announced last week that our school buildings will not reopen this school year. This means that events and traditions such as graduations and year-end field trips are cancelled.
Your turn! What are some creative and out-of-the box ways you can think of to honour the end of the school year and perhaps your graduation from elementary school to highschool? What are the essential elements of these particular rites of passage that you can adapt to the time we are living in today?
Make a plan and represent it in a form of your choice (jot notes, drawing) to recognize your end of year rite of passage moving from one grade to the next. Consider inviting collaborators from your home to help you plan an actual celebration or virtual trip!
Daily task! Don’t forget to engage with your Writer’s Notebook: Creating a Place for Reflection
