Writing

Goals

  • review the prewriting phase of the writing cycle
  • practice writing off-the-page

The Learning Task

You have taken part in lessons that spark your ideas for writing with literacy prompts that focused on generating topics that you can return to for writing inspiration (heart maps, hands, life map, awesome ideas) and genres of writing (personal memoir, informational writing, persuasive writing, procedural writing, poetry, fiction).

Idea generation is part of the prewriting phase of the writing process, so too is the practice of writing off the page.

Your turn! Review all of your writing territories. Choose one idea that you would like to develop into a fulsome piece of writing. Find a blank piece of paper and let your mind wander, gather words, images, phrases and ideas about your writing topic. These words and ideas will help you to next chose a the form you would like your writing to take and offer broader ideas and where you would like to take your writing

Daily task! Don’t forget to engage with your Writer’s Notebook: Creating a Place for Reflection
