This week we are focusing on line variation and colour gradation. Look at the landscape by Robin Mead. Notice the way she uses lines, colours, and shapes to create emphasis.

This is what you will need:

  • a white sheet of paper
  • choose from crayons, markers, coloured pencils, pastels, paints or different coloured pens

Instructions

  1. Use different types of lines to draw a scene from outside (a landscape) or something inside (still life).
  2. Vary the width of your lines. Make some lines thicker than others.
  3. Use warm colours (reds, oranges, yellows) for the sky and cool colours (greens, blues, purples) for the water.
  4. Include some patterns and try to make your colours blend into another colour.
