Boost Your Mood

Laughter and having a sense of humour have many healthful benefits, including promoting creativity, strengthening interpersonal skills, and improving emotional and mental wellbeing. One type of humour enjoyed by many kids is incongruity, where things are not as they should be.

Things are definitely not as they should be in this wacky room! Can you find all of the things that are out of place?

Cartoon picture of a room with two windows, a ceiling fan, bunk beds, a desk, an upside down chair with a glass of orange juice on it, an upside down floor lamp with an orangutan hanging from it, an upside down red curtain on one side of one window, a tree growing sideways in the window, a fish swimming outside the window, an upside down rainbow in the top corner of the other window, a red hat on the ceiling fan, a yellow sports car on the bottom bunk, a sideways lighthouse on the end of the top bunk, a plant growing under the bed, a grey boot on the wall, a frog climbing in the top left corner of the wall, a snake on the floor, and cattails in the bottom right corner of the desk.

Show your own sense of humour by drawing a wacky scene where things are not as they should be. It could be an inside room or an outside space – the wackier, the better!

Share your picture with a family member to see if they can find all of the ‘mistakes’.
