Boost Your Mood

Pride Month continues for the duration of June. In the WRDSB, we believe that our schools and virtual learning environments are safe spaces for everyone. Many of our students, parents, caregivers, staff, and community members identify as LGBTQ+. Our strategic plan emphasizes that the well-being for all of our students and staff are met through a focus on equity and inclusion. Raising the Pride flag demonstrates this commitment to our students, staff, parents, caregivers, and community members.

What do the colours in the Pride flag mean?

The Pride Flag consists of 6 coloured segments that are consistent with the colours that are associated with a rainbow. Each of the six colours on the flag has a meaning; red means life, orange means healing, yellow means sunshine, green means nature, blue means harmony, and purple means spirit.

Create your own Rainbow!

Rainbows elicit different meanings and feelings for individuals and groups of people. Try to make your own rainbow today and consider what this popular image means to you.

Indoor Rainbow Instructions:

  2. Place the glass of water in direct sunlight.
  3. Move the glass around until you see the reflection of the rainbow appear on the wall or on the floor.
