Express Gratitude

June 21st is the summer solstice, the day of the year with the longest light. It is a day with spiritual significance for many people and is a good time to celebrate the cultural richness and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

Three Indigenous people, the first playing a fiddle, the second in traditional dance regalia, and the third playing an Inuit drum, on an orange background with green wavy lines running horizontally across the center behind and in front of the Indigenous people.

Did you know that hockey was inspired by games first played by the First Nations? Or that the Métis were couriers of the first postal services?

You can test your knowledge of some of the many contributions Indigenous Peoples have made to our society in this fun quiz. While you’re there, check out some of the other activities, including puzzles, crafts, and games, to increase your knowledge about and appreciation for the cultural richness and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.
