SNC 2D/2P – Earth and Space Science

Weather Dynamics/ Weather Systems

Climate change is one of the most pressing environmental dilemma’s, and at the same time, one of the most abstract, contentious and complex issues. To address this, the students hike through the Sudden Tract Forest and explore the various ways that climate and weather can be influenced by human activity. Interpretive stops along the hike lead students through the impacts of a changing climate and what that will mean for Waterloo Region.

Key Concepts Discussed:

• General knowledge of weather and climate

• Human influences

• Expected local impacts

• Modifiers

• Quantity vs. quality of GHG’s

• Albedo, green house effect, and melting permafrost
