Physical Fitness: Aerobic and Strength Building Workouts

Kids have a lot of energy to burn and today’s workout will help. It is a fun, aerobic activity to help keep our heart, lungs, and blood vessels healthy. According to Stanford Children’s Health, aerobic exercise gets your blood pumping faster around your whole body. It makes your heart beat faster, your breathing gets faster and your lungs are taking in more oxygen. Don’t worry, all of this good for your body because aerobic exercise strengthens your heart and lungs, and builds stronger muscles and bones.

For our workout today, there are two options:

Option #1

If you want to participate in a fun workout for kids online, with professional fitness trainers, check out the video below. It says it’s for kids, but really it is good for the whole family!

Option #2

Create your own fitness routine. Think of 5 exercises that will get your heart pumping (e.g. jumping jacks, high knees, side shuffles, squat jumps, running on the spot) and do each for 1 minute. Then repeat your set of 5 exercises 4 times to get 20 minutes of exercise. Put on some music and have fun!
