Authors have lots of ideas – you have lots of ideas! Sometimes it can feel hard to think of an idea, though.

It is helpful to think of people, places, pets, and other things you love so that when you are stuck for an idea to write about, you can choose one from your list.

Draw a big heart on a piece of paper. Think of a person, a place, a pet or something else that is really important to you. Write that word in the middle of your heart. You can draw or sketch a picture of that word, too.

Keep thinking… add words or pictures of people, places and things that are important to you or that you love around the outside of your heart. You can be as creative as you like.

Share your idea heart map with someone at your house.
