Class Description

Child Development The Early Years: This course introduces the chronological study of human development. It begins with prenatal influences and examines the age-stages of conception and infancy. The interactive nature of the physical, cognitive and psychosocial domains of the influence on human development will be emphasized. The major theories of development will be used to analyze different developmental events throughout the life span. A central theme of the course is the nature-nurture controversy.

Foundations of Curriculum: This course introduces the concepts of relationship-building and play as the cornerstones of curriculum. Through the lens of holistic development and inclusive early learning, students will examine and describe the elements of meaningful learning for young children of all age groups and the role of the educator in supporting learning.
